    Petitioners in the on-going election petition hearing before the Supreme Court yesterday sprang a surprise on the Electoral Commission (EC), as it introduced tamper proof bags, supposedly used in securing ballots in the conduct of elections to the Chairman of the commission to identify.

    The introduction of the envelopes in the case, which sought to invalidate millions of votes from the ones declared for John Mahama in the December 2012 Presidential elections, came as a surprise to the EC, who objected to it being identified by its witness.

    In his objection, lead counsel for the EC, Mr.
